New Shelter

$90.00 was  raised for Second Chance Farms!

Unfortunately, sales have been slow in the last two months, so I could only raise $90.00.
Thank you to all of you that have supported my cause. I don't want to give this project up, so I hope that more people will want to buy my hearts.

I am also looking for sponsors or advertisers for this blog.
Please email me at tashistreats@gmail.com if you are interested and I can also give you the number of people who read and follow my blog.  Of course, the proceeds of this will also go to my shelter of the month.

For these summer months Tashi's Treats is taking on a huge challenge:
We are fundraising for the Alachua County Humane Society! They save and take care of thousands of homeless pets and try to reduce the number of animals that are killed.
From their website:

Dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are available every day!

Adoption hours: Mon thru Sat 10am - 6pm and Sun 1pm - 6pm

We list all of our adoptable pets on our website, as well as outside sites, with up-to-date photos as often as possible. Due to the large number of animals coming into our facility and being adopted daily, the sites do not always reflect the most recent adoptions or additions in our facility. The most accurate way to acquire adoptable pet information is to come visit!

Mochi

Yesterday was a rainy day, but we still buried Mochi, my fish.
He was sitting there in his fishbowl for a week because it has been raining every day.
We had a little funeral and we told him to say hello to Buster.
He is under the rock that is his tombstone.

Gator Graduation

Graduation is just around the corner, so I was busy making Gator Pocket Hearts.  My Mommy and brother helped me too.

But you don't have to be a graduate to get one of these pocket hearts!
If you are a Gator fan this is a perfect way to show your Gator spirit!
Or better yet, why not give it to that special Gator!
These hearts are now in my Etsy.

Becky

When I gave the check to Animal People, they told me I could walk one of their dogs.
I chose to walk with Becky, a calm goldy who loves to sniff the parking lot flower beds.
Who couldn't resist that face?!?!

I could only spend a little time with her but I'm sure she really enjoyed it.

March Check

Today I will try to give the check to Animal People.
They are always at Pet Smart on Saturdays.
I am glad that I raised a little bit more money this month
because of the veterinary bills for all those hurt animals.

I will also stop by Suburban Animal Hospital to drop off my display.  I will blog about this later.

April Fools!

Happy birthday Spikey!  Today is Spikey's birthday.
It's also April Fools Day!
I wanted to share this picture of Spikey laying on his beanbag with you.

Spikey's birthday is on April Fools Day because he is so silly.
He does so many strange things that make us laugh and we love him very much.

Thank you Gainesville Pet Rescue for saving him and taking good care of him until we came!

Happy Easter!

$70.00 has been raised for Animal People!

I have realized that fundraising is very hard.
I know a lot of people read my blog but the people who read it don't seem to buy my pocket hearts.
You don't have to buy a heart but if you want you can donate a little and it will go towards my shelter of the month.

Today for Easter and to close the month of March I decided to give $5.00 from my allowance to Animal PeopleI wish I could've given more and raised more because of these special animals but I tried my best.
I hope that a lot of you that read this post will buy a heart or donate.

For the month of April my shelter will be Second Chance Farms.

"Second Chance Farms is a non-profit animal rescue and sanctuary. We offer unwanted, abused, neglected and homeless critters of all species a second chance at having a healthy, happy and loving home."

Rosary Pocket Heart

$25.00 has been raised for Animal People!

Easter is coming up and so this pocket heart is perfect for a special person.  It is just the right size to hold a rosary.
It is also a great gift to give for a baptism to go with a rosary.
Or put some money in there too!
The frame behind is for an 8"x10" picture so the heart is a good size.
It is now available in My Etsy.
Have you been in My Etsy Shop yet?
Please do so if you have not yet looked.
I have also put a few of my hearts on the right side of my blog that links you to my shop.
I only have half of this month left to fundraise for Animal People which is my shelter for the month of March.
Please help me and buy your pocket heart.

Huck

Meet Huck the Australian Shepard mix!  He is an incredibly sweet and gentle dog.  I didn't like the picture that Gainesville Pet Rescue  put on the website so here are some that I think really shows his personality.

I am pretty sure they said he was seven years old on the crate, but they said he was ten on the website so you might want to check that out. I haven't had time to call them.
It was nice to play with him for a little bit outside.
How could you not love this face?!  His eyes looked so sad when we had to put him back in his crate...
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease share your love and give him a forever home.
I am sure he will love you back with all of his heart.

I don't want you to forget that my shelter of the month is Animal People and they also have plenty of dogs that you can adopt.  Here  is a list of them and I would like you to read their sad stories.  All of them have gone through so much.  It must have been so painful and heartbreaking for them when all they did was love and put their faith in their owners.  It takes a special person to save a special dog.  Pleeeeeeeeease be that person.

Pocket Heart Idea #2

Pocket hearts look great in the kitchen!
Especially if you have one near the sink to hold your rings when you take them off to wash.
Do you have a pocket heart yet?

Animal People

I saw Animal People when I went to Pet Smart the day that I visited Gainesville Pet Rescue (here).
Their posters caught my eye which were right by the doors.
They talked about each pet and what happened to them and how they found them.
I got to meet one of their dogs who is now taking classes to be a therapy dog.  I was so sad to hear about his story.
He and his sister were tied to a tree by their owner in the woods and left to die.  When Animal People got them, they were in very bad shape.
Unfortunately, his sister died because of her diseases.
He lived but had to have both of his eyes removed because they were so infected and he is also almost deaf.
As you can see, he responds by touch and considering everything that he went through, he is so gentle.
This is Ms. Gail, she is one of the owners of Animal People.
They go to Pet Smart often and bring alot of their pets so that they can get used to good people and be socialized.
They encourage you to pet them and cuddle with them and give them plenty of love.

These pets are very special and they have been through alot.
Please help me fundraise for them.
You can never have too many pocket hearts and you can also give them as gifts.  Mommy says that they are perfect for when you give money gifts since you can put the money right in the pocket!  At the same time, you can be helping save a life.
You can follow me by putting in your email address found on the right side of my blog.  I will have future posts of the wonderful ways to use my pocket hearts.

Lucky Heart

Today is the first day of March, and that means I have to introduce my new shelter of the month, Animal People!
I will tell you about them in my next post.

I thought this heart was a great way to start off the new month because of St. Patricks Day and because the animals saved by Animal People are very, very lucky.
This heart is already in My Etsy!

Pocket Heart Ideas

Here is one way that you can use your pocket heart.
The pocket is especially useful if you need a place to hold something special while you are in the car.
Maybe a piece of jewelry?
But most of all, it will remind you of that special person.
Or that special pet?

Lia

Remember that post (here) when I said I fell in love with one of the dogs in the shelter?  Well here she is!
She looked so sad in the crate and I was so happy when one of the helpers told us we could take her outside.
I really loved her and so did Mommy.
If only we could have adopted her!
I didn't want to put her on my blog because I didn't want anyone to adopt her.
I know I was being selfish.
I check Gainesville Pet Rescue's website often and noticed that she is no longer up for adoption.
Do you know what that means?  It means she got adopted!
I am really happy for her, but I am dissapointed that I couldn't adopt her.
If the person or family that adopted her is reading this post, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let me know how she is doing.
I hope she is happy and that she is getting lots of love.

Faux Paws

Yesterday I went to St. Augustine, FL. with my family to do some research for school.  We took a trolley tour around the city.
As we were passing by the many shops, I saw one I just had to go to!
The name of the shop is Faux Paws.
I was overwhelmed when I saw all of the dog things.
Behind the counter was shelves full of dog figurines.
There were so many different breeds!
Of course, I had to buy a black lab one.
They also had a variety of magnets and note cards.
I bought a magnet too.
The store also had pet clothing and pillows...
..mugs and collars and leashes!
It was an awesome shop!
You must go and visit it whenever you are in St. Augustine!
